You complete a short online form about your drinking, health and goals.

You speak with a UK GP who understands the Sinclair Method and has supported many people in a similar position. They listen, answer your questions and explain your next steps clearly.

Step 3 – Programme & prescription

You receive a clear Sinclair Method plan that fits your life, a prescription for a non addictive tablet to take before you drink, plus simple written guidance and a 12 week roadmap so you always know what to do.

Step 4 – Guided support & family sessions

Across the 12 weeks you have regular contact with caring safeguarding trained coaches who help you through difficult moments, with optional family sessions so the people close to you feel informed and able to support you.

THE SCIENCE

The science behind changing how alcohol feels in your brain

When you drink alcohol your brain releases endorphins that activate opioid receptors. This creates a rewarding effect which over time conditions the brain to associate alcohol with pleasure. The more this pathway is reinforced, the stronger your urges become and the harder it is to cut back.

The tablet used within the Sinclair Method programme is taken before you drink and is designed to block that endorphin reward. Because the brain no longer receives the same reinforcement, the learned behaviour gradually weakens.

  • The cue = drinking alcohol
  • The missing reward = the endorphin release
  • The fading response = urges and compulsive drinking
